Hoppin' all over Long Island

Those crazy quilters are hoppin' all over Long Island and having a ball while they're at it. The shop has been a buzz with activity and everyone seems to be having a great time. Here are some photos of the East Northport Shop. The staff are all wearing Kiss Me I'm Irish tiara's and the UPS guy is taking this seriously!

A Million Pillowcases: A Million Thank Yous

The most generous customers of Pieceful Quilting have done it again! We have actually exceeded our goal to make 500 pillowcases by May 31st with a healthy 534 cases. They were donated to Brighter Tomorrows, The Retreat, St. Peters Church, the Church on the Hill, Pronto Community Outreach, and Thursdays Child. As you might imagine, the recipients were MOST grateful for our donation. The kids will just LOVE what you've done.

The "price" of admission to our Pillowcase parties was a food donation for Island Harvest. The driver, pictured here carted off over 100 pounds of food donations. Again, very grateful.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED in this worthwhile fund raiser.

The girls at Pieceful Quilting must be gearing up for a vacation, because the classroom was a buzz with weekender totes. This was a great class and the results as you can see were fabulous. It's just amazing how cool this weekender tote is. You really can get a weekend's worth of stuff in that thing. Pictured here are Laura, Kim and Jenny.

The MILLION Pillowcase Challenge comes to Pieceful Quilting

We're off to a great start with the Million Pillowcase Challenge at Pieceful Quilting. We already have almost 50 pillowcases done. Thanks to Wendy Rottner and company shown here in these great pictures. Wendy hosted a sewing session at her home and using their own stashes managed to finished a load of pillowcases.
The Million Pillowcase Challenge is a year-long national initiative to create and donate one million pillowcases to local charities.

Pieceful Quilting will be hosting our own party to git 'er done. The price of admission to these parties is canned goods which will be donated to Island Harvest, a Long Island wide service organization that rescues food for shelters throughout Long Island.

Come into either Pieceful Quilting Shop and sew a pillowcase using our machines and our fabric. We'll give you copies of the pillowcase patterns too. We will be donating these pillowcases to local women's shelters. If you would like to host a party at your house and use some of your stash, let us know and we'll get your pillowcases into the right hands.

Riverhead Parties will take place on Tuesday March 30 from 1 - 8pm and Saturday May 1st from 11 - 4pm. The East Northport Parties will take place on Friday April 2nd from 4 - 8pm and Monday April 26 from 11 - 4pm.

See you then.

Why We Sew

I just HAD to share this homework assignment done by my 8 year old niece, Sophia.

Sewing can make you happy. When you finish you can lie down with the quilt you made! Fist you need someone to instruct you. But when you are done with lessons, you're making spectacular quilts in a jiffy. Sewing is a calm thing to do.

Sewing can be fun! If you try doing a quilt you will be warm when you get it. And also when you're finished you can show your friends.

Sewing can be easy. Look at a picture of a quilt I made. It's easy.
